Acceptance in the Photographic ProfessionAcceptance in the photographic profession is not simply a matter of joining a professional organisation such as the AIPP or ACMP even though that is probably a good move. What is important is first to set the highest technical and ethical standards. And second, it is to strike a pricing structure that accurately reflects your true costs and worth. This will mean that you will be competitive but not viewed as undercutting professional practice. Rather than fighting for a small piece of the photographic industry pie we should all be working for higher status for photography and photographers and greater acceptance of photography as a positive contributor to families and communities. Then, the pie is larger and we all benefit. |
