| Exposure - Aperture Priority Mode Nearly all SLR system cameras and even quite a few compacts have a variety of shooting modes from which to choose. For portrait work, if you don't intend to use Manual Exposure Mode, then Aperture Priority Mode is the best choice. Follow your manual but here's a simplified guide:
| 1. Switch your camera to Aperture Priority Mode |

2. Select your preferred aperture - largest aperture, 1 stop down or 2 stops down (I tend to work one stop down. My maximum aperture is f2.8; therefore most portraits I take are on f4.
3. Let the camera work out the shutter speed (but be mindful what the speed is!)
